Heritage Trail: Wells in England part 2

Wells cathedral as seen from the wells
Although we don't know much beyond Stephen's eighteenth-century grandfather William Wells on that line, it's possible that the family originally came from Wells, England. Wells is a charming town about three hours' drive west of London, dominated by a beautiful cathedral. Next to the cathedral is the Bishop's Palace built on the original "wells," springs of water from whence came the town's name. Disappointed not to find anything with our Wells name on it besides lollipops for sale, we nevertheless loved our time there and felt fulfilled by the pilgrimage. Perhaps someday we'll learn more about our ancestral connections here.

Frisbee games, and evening walks with dogs
(but word to the wise: don't stay in the Ancient Gatehouse Hotel,
even though the view is fantastic)
