Heritage Trail: Wells ancestors in Wales

In 2012, my in-laws were able to visit sites in the United Kingdom to do some research on their Jones, Hooper, and Williams lines.  My mother in-law reports:

If you click on this link you can see old Merthyr Tydfill:  http://www.alangeorge.co.uk/Index.htm
Louisa Jones's Bible says she was born in Penydaren in 1855. The registrar defined it even more by saying it was Penyard in Bradley Row. If you click on Penyard you can see a map of Bradley Row.

Our Jones family lived on 56 Nightengale St. in Abercanaid in 1861. William and Elvira's birthplace says Abercanaid. There is a picture of Nightengale St and Cardiff St looking at the Zion church just a block from their house. It was listed in the 1861 census and you can get a feel for the way it used to be by comparing some of the homes that have not been updated in the same way.

The pub in Pyle can be found by googling "royal oak pyle bridgend"--there isn't a picture, but an address. It isn't much to see and is really far from about anywhere, but it was so cool to know that it still exists. Owned by the brother of Miles Williams; the owners let us in and were very nice.
