John, Julie, Bob |
My grandfather and his living siblings (ages 88-94), and dozens of their descendants, gathered in Salt Lake City over the holidays to celebrate the lives of their parents, John and Eulalia Welch, and relive cherished memories and strengthen connections and relationships. Heirloom treasures and photos were brought and displayed, we ate a Rumbi Island feast to commemorate the Welches' New Zealand mission, we sang songs composed by ancestor Isaac Sorensen, had a costumed debate oratory performance by my daughter (written by Eulalia about a century ago, arguing that old maids were happier than old bachelors), and finished with home movies and desserts made from Eulalia's recipes. What a great gathering!
