Happy 219th Birthday, Stephen Muir (1792-1862)!

Anna Cramer's great-great-grandfather

A Scottish pioneer who didn't like Utah and went back home!

Happy 225th Birthday, James Eastman (1786-1847)!

Unita Welch's great-great-grandfather; Lorenzo Hill Hatch's father-in-law

I was so thrilled to find a typewritten copy of James' journal on microfilm at the Church History Library a year ago!  Reading it made him come alive for me.

Happy 259th Birthday, Jacob Broom (1752-1810)!

Gawain's fourth-great-grandfather
Constitutional signer from Delaware
Jacob Broom was born in Delaware, the son of James and Esther Willis Broom. Jacob and his wife Rachel raised eight children. His mother was a Quaker by birth, and due to these religious convictions, Jacob did not fight in the Revolutionary War. However, he was a surveyor, and drew the map used by George Washington in the Battle of Brandywine. Jacob served in the Delaware state legislature and was one of the youngest delegates at the Constitutional Convention. He signed the Constitution, and we admired his signature at the National Archives. You can see a letter he wrote here.  His granddaughter Rachel was a Mormon pioneer.

I would give him a fancy new pen!
